Michael Ignatief, Saviour -&- Female AIDS Immigrants, A Reality Check -&- PM: appointing justices -- the tribe has spoken

Bumped up; new posts are below.

Do you want to read the plans of the movers and shakers in the centre and for Liberal heaven shortly? First Michael Ignatief is parachuted into a safe Liberal riding over the wishes of Liberals who had worked there and planned to run.

Today this relatively recent implant--injection of new blood, perhaps--and import from a teaching position at Harvard is favoured with not one, but two articles -- one, a major article about him in the National Post. It affirms that those who run important businesses, Liberal power, Bay Street boys, have plans. Out of all the Canadians running for public office--that is out of 360 plus candidates--Michael Ignatief gets, not just one article about the IMPORTANT PEOPLE'S plans for him to replace Paul Martin as soon as Martin can be politically buried, but also, Ignatief gets his own space to pontificate about how wonderful PM's social values have been for Canada.

I am seeing a purplish red. TWO ARTICLES IN ONE NEWSPAPER IN ONE DAY to give prominence to one parachuted import who is expected to save the Liberal bacon and pork barrel.

In the comments and editorial section, we may read the great intellect's pontification on the Conservative leader and how he has not been really checked out adequately on his social views. Well, give me Stephen Harper, a father of two children, who wants to go home to his family on the weekend (ex-MP Deb Gray), a man who has lived in Canada, thought through and worked out policy, rather than a parachute candidate who has come, deigning to enlighten us. More about this later.

Two articles: one about, one by Michael Ignatief, the latest Liberals' saviour

Ignatieff's 'vision' looks beyond vote -- Bay Street eyes candidate as Martin's successor [for...after the burial ... the new charismatic saviour of Liberal socialism] John Ivison, National Post, January 14, 2006

Mr. Ignatieff suggested a new one-stop shop for immigrants -- a Canadian Citizenship Centre -- where new immigrants could get information about family unification, jobs, training [. . . . ]

While his Conservative challenger, John Capobianco, positions himself as "a hard-working neighbour to be your voice in Ottawa," Mr. Ignatieff can barely contain his enthusiasm for his "vision" -- a phrase he uses repeatedly. [. . . . ]

Spare me another Liberal "vision" and probably new Liberal patronage jobs to add to all the others.

Ordinary hard working Canadians have had enough of being talked down to from atop the intellectual pinnacle. We don't need imported star candidates pontificating to us so they can get to the Ottawa trough. Why would Mr. Ignatief leave a position at Harvard to come to Canada to save us? To save the Liberal Party?

Many Canadians want the opportunity to decide, based on our own reasoning, just what Canada needs. Some Canadians would like to be represented by ordinary individuals, ones who have had to be careful with their finances, who know what it is like to husband their resources by making choices, people who know what ordinary life--life without charisma and high profile position--is like. We want these elected representatives to go to Ottawa and and to keep Ottawa out of Canadians' pockets. Less federal input in our lives would be a welcome change. What would happen if Canadians had choices not imposed from the Ottawa trough? They might find that choice would open doors closed by government control.

Liberal Compassion on someone else's dime

Yesterday, I read of the number of female immigrants who come to Canada and then, CANADA DISCOVERS THEY HAVE AIDS.

About 20% of the women diagnosed in 2004 were immigrants from HIV endemic countries, primarily from Africa and the Caribbean.

A firm NO to a wayward partner might be apropos, even in Africa. Act there, instead of coming here to use our resources. Liberal Canada is importing new drains on the medical system. Why should other Canadians pay for this?

"I don't know how I got infected with HIV", says Lynne, a 26 year old Toronto mother of five. "I think it was from my ex-boyfriend because he was always out messing around with other people that would sleep with him." ("Women with HIV educate others about protection", The Daily Gleaner, Jan. 13, 06, B2.)

I haven't met you but I know how you got it, you blithering idiot! I'll bet you're on welfare too and your kids have seen no other example than the father(s) no longer there and the wayward ex-boyfriend. They will behave similarly and expect society to support them. And fine Liberal vote buyers will talk about Canadians' superior compassion as long as other people, taxpayers, are paying for this.

She has shown great concern for protecting the interests of her children has she not? Where is their father(s) and what effect does a guy like the wayward one have on her children, anyway? Didn't she know she could get AIDS? Did these women ever consider monogamy and testing of that partner before ... ? No-one talks about personal responsibility, I note. Nor do politicians. Why should society pay for more of the same? It only reinforces lack of personal responsibility, allows it to continue, and supports more of the same in the next generation.

With the problems of whether Canada's medical system is adequate for those who have actually worked here to pay for it, why are immigrants to Canada not tested before they come? Why should Canadians be paying for new immigrants and refugees' medical treatment before they have even contributed to Canada? I would not bring a sick individual into my home to drain meagre resources from my own family, so why would I bring the same into my country? Prudence for the sake of the Canadian family is not a Liberal value either, it seems. Michael Ignatief did not mention these AIDS patients in his fine words about servicing immigrants, (below) I note. (I may choose to contribute to a charity for Canadians who have had bad fortune but I refuse, where possible, to contribute to more of the same in the Third World, and certainly not to importing problems. My personal reality check.)

Oh, there is more to be said about Liberal social values and telling us about the fine Liberal system of social values--vote buying--on other peoples' tax dollars.

This election isn't over Michael Ignatieff, Jan. 14, 06

Liberal policies make sense to the people of my riding. They know that the Martin government hasn't just talked about social justice. It has backed rhetoric with action. It has defended a key institution of common citizenship, our national health care system, with $43-billion of investment to bring down waiting times and improve service to people. .... a national program of daycare and early childhood learning .... [. . . . ]

Canadians are entitled to know whether [Harper] would govern from the right or from the centre, whether he respects the bedrock commitment of all Canadians to a compassionate country based on equality of citizenship

I hadn't noticed that citizens weren't equal ... except where Liberals themselves have gerrymandered the system to give advantage to one of their voting blocks. What is Ignatief talking about?

Liberals have not asked me whether they are positioned at the center (no!) and whether I want their kind of compassion based on other people's money and the equality that sees the hard working taxpayers' money thrown at problems the Liberals have imported or that props up people so they do not have to change (or money for travel abroad for fine talking fests about how to help). Absolutely not! That is not equality; that has been and is Liberal vote buying through importing voters who cost the rest too much in too many cases.

Mr. Ignatief, what Liberals do/plan/promise/talk and talk about is not necessarily the centre. My greatest fear is that the chattering classes will push the Conservatives too close to the bilgewater we've been fed by Liberals. I want change, not fine tuning and more of the same.

G & M Poll: Some of the Canadian Tribe have spoken on appointed justices

Liberals have appointed most of our Supremes and they come with philosophical baggage and Liberal approval ... and we don't want it any more. We want freedom and we want to choose. We have had enough of Liberals' choosing for us to last a lifetime.

Updated: Maurice Strong--Paul Martin's dangerous friend

Update added at bottom: Memory Lane: UNSCAM & Liberal Unity

Maurice Strong--Paul Martin's dangerous friend

If it is legitimate to tie Stephen Harper to George Bush's political philosophy, then it is legitimate to tie Martin to Strong's. Those who follow the arcane pronouncements of the United Nation's poster boy will be shocked to learn of this close connection. For Maurice Strong's ideas are truly frightening. This man has been a mentor and business partner of Paul Martin. That, to my mind, makes Paul far more frightening than Stephen Harper.

In a column (National Post, Fri, 13, FP19) Peter Foster exposes the dictatorial nature of Maurice Strong. Instead of just a talk shop to keep an army of delgates, agents and NGOs employed, Strong wants the United Nations to be the main player in global politics. Preferably with himself in charge. Foster mentions the various scandals which have attached themselves to the man. Specifically, the "oil-for-food" program, where the UN totally bungled the operation, while some members enriched themselves. It is bad enough that Strong was one of the architects of this plan, but also, he has been implicated in accepting a million dollars from Tongsun Park, who was arrested in Mexico City--on a flight that originated in Canada.

Just to add a touch of conspiracy here, Park was not arrested on an INTERPOL warrant in Canada. Doesn't customs check these bulletins? Or is there a more sinister element involved?

Martin wants to ban guns; Strong wants the UN to have an independent army. Martin wants to keep the Canadian electorate hostage to his corrupt regime; Strong admitted that he wished he could keep all the worlds' leaders hostage--only until they came around to his way of thinking, of course. Oh yes, and it would be nice if a few billion of the world's population were wiped out. Nothing personal, just that the muskoxes need space. What this envirocrat envisions is a world dominated by a vast UN bureaucracy. To stop rampant pollution, capitalism must go. Socialism is the answer and Strong should be The Great Helmsman. The fact that most Third World socialist countries are corrupt and eternally broke does not faze him. That Mao, Stalin and Pol Pot killed more of their own citizens, to enforce their idea of a socialist paradise, than all the wars of the twentieth century does not faze Strong either. In fact, Strong is right at home in China, to which his frequent visits attest.

Foster also points out that Paul Martin is a cheerleader for the UN and its multilateral approach to problems. He states:

"That would be the same UN that is repeatedly exposed as corrupt and incompetent ... the corrupt agency which Martin's ultra-left-friend wants to have rule the world. With guns, in Canada."

Why, I do believe that this could be a tit-for tat attack ad for the Conservatives. Have Martin and Strong hugging each other, while the description of some of Strong's dictatorial and loony-left statements scroll down.

Don't Think Alberta Separatism Is Real? 1AngryMan, 1/13/2006 23:30:53 -- Message: By Leon Harold Craig

This year, Alberta is celebrating a century of existence as part of the Canadian federation of provinces. What better time, then, to take stock of Alberta's place in this arrangement, of how well it's been served in the past and what are its prospects for the future?

The moment is especially propitious, since the whole country is being treated to a rare public exposure of how corrupt the federal government, historically dominated by a Liberal party centred on Ontario and Quebec, actually - routinely - is.

To be sure, the $250 million of graft involved in the Adscam racket is but a small portion of Alberta's annual donation to keeping Quebec tenuously tethered to the rest of Canada, barely a week's contribution of the $12 billion Ottawa sucks out of Alberta every year in equalization" payments (which the Liberal party then uses to buy votes east of Cornwall), a mere $60 of the almost $3,000 that every man, woman and child in Alberta pays per year for the privilege of remaining in a federation governed for the benefit of Ontario, Quebec and cronies of the Liberal Party of Canada. Kept here, that same money would provide every family of four a $35,000 car every three years. I'd rather have the car. [. . . . ]

And it also has to do with the preception from Ontario that anything from Alberta must be evil, except our transfer money of course. WallysWorld, 1/14/2006 00:15:41

Management Team -- Diversion

A Japanese company and an American company decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both the teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day the Japanese won by a mile.

Afterward, the American team became very discouraged and morally depressed.

The American management decided the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found. A "Management Team" made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 persons steering and one person rowing. So American management hired a consulting company and paid them an incredible amount of money. They advised that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

To prevent losing to the Japanese again next year, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the "Rowing Team Quality First Program," with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower.

"We must give the rower the empowerment and enrichments through this quality program.".

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. Then they distributed the money saved as bonuses to the senior executives.

Thank goodness this is just a story and this sort of thing doesn't happen in real life eh?

Right ... and thanks JK.

Question: I notice that Tongsun Park was headed for Panama. I seem to remember that Panama's ports are under the control of a Canadian, Li Ka-shing, now, and there was a special agreement with Panama's leader about Chinese (possibly others, as well) able to enter Panama without going through customs to get on a plane coming North, whether to Canada or to the US, I have forgotten. That Panamanian deal was mentioned in a post on NJC maybe as long as two years ago. Check starting with Mar. 1, 2004 in News Junkie Canada for that post, if you are interested. Maybe that is convenient for those needing to make a quick trip.

Note that Tongsun Park was able to leave Canada through an airport without being caught, even though he was on Interpol's list of wanted individuals. How was that possible? I remember once being with someone who had airport clearance and I did not have to go through security, but 9/11 and other incidents of terrorism have occurred since then. Would it be something like that? Who would be able to get him through without the normal checks? How? Or was it a normal error? ... You know, mistakes happen.

Canadian security is just not a serious Liberal value ... a priority ... it appears.

Remember the RCMP posts closed or, as Landslide Annie would have you believe, "reallocated", some in the grow-op areas of Quebec. Bring the back ports police which were disbanded under Jean Chretien, fund adequately, get rid of the guns, drugs and organized criminal gangs -- take action in all the areas in which Liberal government(s) have been remiss.

Paul Martin upped the rhetoric today, promising to implement a national ban ... Laugh. gl1800

Update: Harsh? No, Realistic re Legal Polygamy: The Bailey Report, Abandoning Liberal Ship, Campaign Ads, Bud on CBC

Update added at the bottom of this post on polygamy.

No slippery slope in Canada? ... Friday, the Thirteenth, our lucky day

National Post front page: CALL FOR LEGAL POLYGAMY

That report in this morning's newspaper starts with discussing the polygamy practised in Bountiful, BC. Search: child abuse , sexual exploitation , not force marriage laws to recognize it

Study recommends repealing polygamy ban in Canada Dean Beeby, CP/NationalPost, Jan. 12, 06

``Criminalization does not address the harms associated with valid foreign polygamous marriages and plural unions, in particular the harms to women,'' says the report, obtained by The Canadian Press under the Access to Information Act.

``The report therefore recommends that this provision be repealed.''

The research paper is part of a controversial $150,000 polygamy project, launched a year ago and paid for by the Justice Department and Status of Women Canada. [. . . . ]

Search: Martha Bailey , spousal support and inheritance rights , a fairly permissive society , Section 293 , same-sex marriage , beastiality , a rising tide of immigration from Africa and the Middle East , a violation of Canada's constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion , offer some recognition to polygamous , the harm to women and children

Soon the only thing banned in Canada will be the practice of Christianity--the branches that don't go along with Liberal values of SSM, and now, probably polygamy ... Well, perhaps Judaism will be banned, along with Christianity. The description I read sounds very inclusive and will appeal to the Elmasry's of Canada (Cdn. Islamic Congress) who have suggested that plural wives are "a good thing" and that Muslims in Canada must become more political ... I would say, Liberal.

Spare us more immigration from the Islamic world or soon, women's rights and freedoms will be seriously curtailed, if not ended ... but Canada will be inclusive ... inclusive of Muslim men's wishes. Oh, the study doesn't couch it that way ... but think about it.

Muslim immigrants have been successful breeders of more who think like them, as Europe has found. Spare me, as a woman, from a Muslim man who would curtail the freedoms I enjoy. This is my right, Paul Martin, and you'd better remember it.

More Liberal voters ... more Liberal voters ... more votes for Paulie and his Parrots who care about little except winning, IMHO, carrying on a long Liberal tradition. Win at all costs.

Federal Justice Dept study recommends repealing polygamy ban in Canada -- "change other legislation to help women and children"January 12, 2006

Helping ... again. Every time the Liberal government decides it is time for them to help, I want to run for the hills.

Update: Harsh? I am realistic

A friend says I am too harsh. Well, as a woman, I fear that more and more Muslim ideas have come to Canada. It started with our tolerance--not theirs--and it may move to infringement of my rights as a female ... if enough of a population of Muslims are here with barbaric ideas about women.

As a poll of British Muslims taken after the London tube bombing shows, the vast majority showed they have no respect for Western culture; they consider it decadent and our women to just be loose. Also, women's heads or bodies are not covered from the eyes of men. They couch it as women tempting men. I am no threat to the tolerant among them, but right now, I don't hear of too many speaking out and denouncing the barbarous attitudes toward women, so I find it very hard to pick out the tolerant from the rest.

I hate Muslim attitudes toward women. Don't try to tell me that they are not bringing these ideas to Canada. I can read so I see what is happening. When Muslim men become tolerant, they are welcome into my Canadian world. Until then, they should go back to the horrendous societies from which they came.

There comes a tipping point with population and the Liberals are so desperate for votes that they don't care. Well, I do, so I speak out.

Update Bud: The CBC has been given its marching orders

Herb Dhaliwal was Kathleen Petty's guest to massage the message from the phone-in voters.

Throughout most of the interview and listening to call-ins there were pictures of Martin being congratulated by immigrants, adorable child on shoulder with Liberal claque clapping, his walking off a plane with his wife, Liberals being congratulated somewhere, all of this shown twice. The very partisan Dhaliwal refuting every single negative comment against the Liberals was followed by This Hour's favourite young Liberal massaging the message even more. And Harper's anti-Kyoto stance is once again shown to be false. ( within 5 min.) After slamming the Conservatives, the dude tried to pretend that this was a neutral news program and switched to hockey -- balance, CBC style. Canadian hockey, another Liberal value.

Bud Talkinghorn

NJC on Last night's CBC: Dini Petty (I think), a call in show -- shameful -- pure Liberal Advertising -- couched as "listening to ordinary Canadian callers" with Herb Dhaliwal guesting to explain away everything. Why are Canadians forced to pay for this? It is time for class action. CBC is completely biased for the Liberal government and more offensive every day.

CBC & What voters should look for: a Primer -&- Liberty

Romeo St Martin on who approved the attack ads -- via Newsbeat1 You could just guess and probably be right. I think he's losing it, anyway.

I have one ear tuned so I don't get all, but CBC has just called the Conservative campaign "slick" ... the lead-in to more cr**. What follow are not the exact words but as close as I could come in a hurry. Check the CBC website.

According to the CBC program, the Conservatives have had a 'free ride' and more questions need to be asked: People need to ask what kind of Canada the Conservatives would have, how they would govern ... LibPropOrg/Pravda is in full spate, flooding the airwaves with talk about:

* Stockwell Day -- who has turned into an excellent MP, by the way, but he would never get credit from the Librano$ media spokespeople

* The Conservative/Alliance -- Maybe they even mentioned Reform, though I didn't catch it. CBC think Canadians are so afraid of Westerners and Christians that CBC reminds us at every opportunity of Conservatives who might actually believe in something besides Liberal lies and Big Government. Christians also pay for this from CBC, where a hushed, respectful tone is used for a murderous mullah but Christians and Christian faith earn only CBC's derisive tone.

* No cracks showing through -- so CBC are hinting broadly or they are telling listeners what to ask about... anything that they can mention in hope of defeating the Conservatives. For example, be sure to ask about: social issues, women's right to choose--abortion, and this quote from someone on the program, "We would be in Iraq now if the Conservatives were in power" ... and more similar bilge.

Liberal values are not Canadian values but, to CBC and its hangers-on, If you don't buy into the Liberal concept of values, you're a right-wing nut case. Well, CBC, I have gay friends and relatives but I want children to have two opposite sex parents so, no, I don't want "gay marriage" as a prelude to adopting children. What gays do in their own space, privately and not in public, I care not a whit about. They are welcome to "civil union" if they really want to be tied together legally.

I did hear one Conservative who suggested that voters remember the HRDC scandal, gun control and other assorted scandals. Go to BlueBlogging Soapbox and Technoscam for lists. There are others. Scroll down for one listed earlier today.

CBC may run the tribe ... as well as supply the GG's -- yes, four of them, as Bud has noted.

In full Pinocchio tribal growth spurt is our taxpayer-funded media's nose as it pretends to be giving "news". More to come, folks, and this is from one who loves public broadcasting for much viewing and listening -- just not CBC as it is, presently. I am beginning to viscerally HATE it.

It ended with that cabal of CBC's "ordinary Canadians", the ones always at hand, who always spout just about what CBC wants listeners to remember:

* tolerance -- of anything that isn't people like Christians and me--not necessarily the same thing -- tolerance of "militants" and the like, you know, the backpack bombers so treated with CBC tolerance (Listen for the hushed tone of respect)

* strong economy -- taxpayers' $$$ garnered through Liberal overtaxation and robbing the EI fund -- now about to rob EI more for people who hardly have worked for it, artists, just to garner votes -- no, I don't hate artists, just Liberal vote-buying so evident.

* gay marriage -- a newly-discovered "right which not all Liberal MP's could support; 31 Liberal MP's did NOT support gay marriage.

* instability of Canada continually having elections ... so should PM end that, along with the notwithstanding clause, perhaps?

Those are the views of some of the CBC's "ordinary voters" via Nancy Wilson ... and a typical CBC program -- a poison sandwich from what I could gather in the time I was listening. Listen to them yourself and see what you think or better, go online and look at some of the websites of decent people who are trying to develop news sites: Western Standard / Shotgun, Canada Free Press, and any number of others whom I have mentioned on this site, previously. Before You Vote

Election is a good time to explore your concept of liberty and this site is a good place to start -- Philosophy of Liberty -- Flash .swf I often will not check anything like this because of viruses but I have checked this and it simply made me look for more.

I didn't have enough time when I gave this link earlier today (Scroll for "Justzumgai") to explore the site earlier but I have since. It's intriguing.

But don't take my word for it; check for yourself.

Before you do, I am including an excerpt here and a bit more to assure you of its credibility because it took me a while to find out whether this would be another of those sites which is a source of viruses or hacking. The name JonathanGullible has that effect. I'm very wary of anything "free" ... have been ever since I entered a contest in grade three--a boring tale--costing me only a stamp. However, I had focused, as a child does, on what I was going to get, instead of reading the fine print. A cheap lesson, instructive for the only one who cared ... me. Our society doesn't let citizens learn from their mistakes enough and so, we have Big Government-Big Brother. Anyway, it took me a while to find this paragraph which lends the site more credibility, if you need it.

So Small Business Hawaii is really very much responsible for this coming into 23 languages before this edition, and I think it's taking off because just in the last two years we've had about 10 new languages added to it. It's also won more awards, (Noble laureate economist) Milton Friedman has endorsed it, and more interesting, I think, it's been picked up by almost 20 public policy institutes around the world -- adopted and used or promoted by those organizations.

KS: No, that's right. I just wanted something to give that sense of "Gulliver's Travels." I was also influenced by "The Little Prince." I was very impressed with how very profound statements about life could be made in a very simple way, and the "The Little Prince" does that beautifully.

Don't do it the French Way

Vincent Benard, science writer for the Hayek Institute in Brussels, Belgium, began by saying that French anti-liberalism and its dominance within every level of decisional powers, is turning France into the main impediment to liberal reforms in Europe.

"Other countries of the world are not immune to what is happening to us," he stated. "Marxist forces are challenging liberal values (such as globalization and its benefits) on a daily basis . . . there is a French paradox: liberalism has become the center of political debate, but it virtually doesn't exist in France.

Gramscism Benard explained that there were some historical factors which contributed heavily to the present situation in France. One is "Gramscism", named after Antonio Gramsci.

He was a Marxist activist who advocated strong penetration by communist militants into key French institutions – especially education, media and culture. National state-run education has been a priority target and has been responsible for inculcating strong anti-capitalist dogma into young people's minds.

Bud Talkinghorn: Liberal attack ads & Indian Plight -&- For the Military

Bud Talkinghorn: Liberal attack ads

... tongue firmly in cheek

"Mr. Harper would put soldiers with guns on Canadian streets." Gasp! Monstrous! Soldiers with guns! Can't they be equipped with brooms to sweep up the needles and condoms off the streets? What are they doing with guns anyway? By God, Martin was right with his gun registry. The only mistake was not to take away the army's long guns as well. He would, of course, like to confiscate their handguns now. Well maybe he would allow them to keep their handguns in Afghanistan. Rumour has it that there are real bad guys there. Can't have bodybags coming home at election time. But to let them keep those long guns--automatics even--that just makes a mockery of our two billion dollar gun registry. Given half a chance that Harper boy would have armed units of the Einsatzgruppen rounding up innocent immigrants. Jane-Finch would be one big concentration camp. "I'm not making this up."--as the Liberal tag line always says.

Yes sir, you have to hand it to the Liberals, when cornered, the fangs and claws come out.

Unfortunately, it is coming across in a Crash Bandicoot sort of way. What Harper was suggesting was that should a disaster occur (Think London and Madrid) there would be trained medical and support troops to help. Not quite Martin's storm trooper-implied threat. If Canadians buy into this crap, then we deserve the Liberals, and worse, their parasitic, spendthrift NDP buddies "advising" them on policy.

As for the other attack ad, which stated directly that electing Harper would only please President Bush, a.k.a. the man who must have had to have 666, the mark of the Beast, lasered off his forehead to get elected. This? From the Liberal party that promised a better working relationship with our best friends? I'll bet that the Republicans will pay attention to that particular "drive-by smear"--as Martin is prone to call these things.

The degree of desperation these ads show is patently obvious .. at least to the thinking voter. After these ads, the bizarre "Notwithstanding Clause statement", and his new, improved gun registry scheme, Martin only needs a fork stuck in, him, because Paul Martin is done.

I don't think you can believe much of what Paul Martin and his PropagandaOrgan say. Yet taxpayers have no choice; their taxes fund PM & Team, along with the blatantly biased CBC. Remember that when you vote, Canadians.

For Canada's Military

US military may have read it already, since it came from a US friend. Thanks JK.

Bud, forgive me for more added comments again today. Nevertheless, what follows is dedicated to Canada's military and I just think, in all seriousness, it needs to be said.

A crusty old Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event, hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.

She said, "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man.
Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am," the Sergeant Major said, "Just serious by nature."

The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action."

The Sergeant Major's short reply was, "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action."

The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself."

The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner.

Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?"

The Sergeant Major looked at her and replied, "1955."

She said, "Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean, no sex since 1955! Isn't that a little extreme?"

The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice,
"You think so? It's only 2130 now."

Ya gotta love that military time!

The Indian plight--a story without end

I have written before on our totally wrong-headed Indian policy, that has plagued both Liberal and Conservative administrations. The National Post ( "Dying for a cultural fantasy" Wed. Jan.11, 06) published its lead editorial on the perverse "cruelty" that distinguishes our government policy. No doubt the occasional Native reader to my blog assumes I am some culturally-insensitive redneck; however I am anything but. I want natives to share in our wealth. I want them to share in our diverse world culture. I want them to share in our female rights and property laws. Our Indian Affairs Department has thrown untold billions at the "Indian problem". The results can be seen all across the reserve archepeligo--rampant vandalism, substance abuse, spousal violence, wild children, and welfare dependency. Yet the current Indian Affairs Minister, Andy Scott, is out there throwing billions more at them, with practically no accountability asked for. The government has simply become a giant pinata to beat the goodies out of each year. Or better yet, after each new scandal on a reserve. This, despite the fact that the government knows that most of the problems on reserves (including the water supply) are caused by incompetent native technical staff and corrupt band leaders. It is as though the suffering can be smothered with yet more money. An obscene proposition.

There is nothing wrong with most of the native culture; but it does not support a self-sufficient lifestyle. Let them keep their tribal beliefs; nevertheless, they must subjugate these to the realities of today's world. Otherwise, they are doomed to stay outside the window of opportunity, resentfully staring in. When they overcome their culture of entitlement, then they will march beside us into the rapture of economic contentment.

Justzumgai: Charter -&- Letter, Promises, Choice & Freedom

Choice & Freedom ... are not Librano$ values

CBC is continuing the politicking for Paulie. First they air, ad infinitum, the ad(s) that are "not" being run, apparently as "news" and they're continuing this morning. They just had Paulie on speaking at length; then they added a bit of Stephen ... their balance. Susan Murray was her usual--apparently quite intemperate--self. I say intemperate because I have read that she sunk to using gutter language while the cameras were rolling yesterday (or just lately, since, when I first read it, I couldn't believe it and didn't save the link.) Undoubtedly, CBC will keep her on--a CBC star journalist--I assume. You have to pay for the likes of Susan Murray on CBC, don't forget.

CBC is so very obvious, working as the Librano$ Pravda, the Liberal Propaganda Organ. They're so afraid Canadians would have a choice ... and that covers many areas. I will never order and pay for Sirius simply because CBC is involved and, as soon as I check out more of the other choices, if I find Lieberal involvement in any way, that's it for them too.

CBC is running scared. If you want freedom, join in. Demand choice and freedom.

SOMETHING WORTH THINKING ABOUT posted by Sensforever, 1/08/2006 and I have received it through an acquaintance.

Hello.

My name is Alan R..... I am a Canadian. One voter out of millions of Canadian voters.

Paul Martin is no friend of mine. Liberal governments have not made my life any better. Liberal governments have made the future worse for my children.

Jean Chretien and the Liberal Party became Prime Minister many years ago. Guess who was the Liberal Finance Minister.....Paul Martin...LEST WE FORGET.

Since 1993:

(1) My taxes have increased.
(2) My family's share of the national debt has increased.
(3) My personal expenses have increased.
(4) My waiting time to see a doctor has increased.
(5) My concerns for my family's safety have increased.
(6) My costs to educate my children have increased.
(7) Government interference in my life has increased.
(8) My personal debt has increased.
(9) My income has stayed more or less the same.
10) My savings have decreased.
(11) The buying power of my dollar, in Canada, has decreased.
(12) The value of my dollar, in the U.S., has decreased.
(13) My trust of elected officials has decreased.
(14) My trust in the justice system has decreased.
(15 )My trust in the immigration system has decreased.
(16) My hope that a Liberal won't waste my tax dollars has decreased.
(17 )My dreams for a better future for my kids, in Canada, have disappeared.

That is my story since the Liberals came to power.

I am not voting for Paul Martin's Liberals. I am voting against Paul Martin and his Liberal Party in January.

I am voting for Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party.

Do I like the Conservatives? Not particularly......I don't really like Politics. I am not political by nature. I am not passionate about politics. I am a middle age guy (48). I live in a small house on a fairly quiet street in Edmonton. I have a wife, Kathy, and two children (ages 19 and 17). I have no pets. I am a middle class man. I don't usually say too much.

Until now.

Now I am going to say something!

In 35 of the past 37 years, Canada has been ruled by:
(1) Pierre Trudeau - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(2) Brian Mulroney - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(3) Jean Chretien - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(4) And now we are going to vote for Paul Martin???? - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec???

Why?)

The leader of the Conservative party, Stephen Harper, is:
(1) Not a lawyer.
(2) Not a multi-millionaire.
(3) Not from Quebec.

Stephen Harper says that the Conservative party will:
(1) Reduce my taxes.
(2) Pay off the national debt as fast as they can.
(3) Shrink the size and influence of the federal
government.

How can we tell? We can't, but do the Liberals keep promises?. Based on past experience, I think not!

That's good enough for me. I'm going to give the Conservative party a chance with my vote.

But wait! Paul Martin is now saying the same thing. My mother told me forty years ago: "Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me!"

The Liberals have had 34 years to be financially responsible. Remember, Jean Chretien was Trudeau's Finance Minister. Remember also, Paul Martin was Jean Chretien's Finance Minister These people have been raising my taxes for thirty four years. They have been mis-spending my tax dollars for 34 years. 34 years!

And now Paul Martin says he'll stop taxing and spending. No way.

Thank you for reading my story so far!

Why am I telling my story to you?

Although I feel alone, I know that I am not alone.
Your story may be similar to mine. And you may also feel alone. One small voter in the midst of millions of voters.

What can you and I do together to change things?

Here is my idea: Lets you and I join up together. Just you and I. Together. As a small team of two.

How can you and I fight a huge political machine?

You and I have two things that we can use:
(1) Our individual personal connections.
(2) The Internet.

The Internet is supposed to be this globalizing tool, right? Let's put it to use.

I have 27 Canadians in my personal e-mail address book. I am sending this e-mail to each of them.

I'm asking you to do two things:

(1) Forward this e-mail to every Canadian in your own address book.
(2) Vote against Paul Martin and the Liberal Party this January.

Vote for the Conservative candidate in your riding.

I have probably written this too late. As I said I am not politically adroit. I feel like Peter Finch, in the 1976 movie "Network", when he shouted: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

My best wishes to you. My best wishes to Canadians everywhere.

My thanks to David Stokes from Toronto He actually wrote this just (5) days before the last federal election. Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me!"

Alan R........, Edmonton Alberta [. . . . ]

The vote buying continues apace

Jack Layton wants to give $50-million to the Chinese who were hurt by the head tax (National Post, Jan. 12, 06, A6, "Layton unveils spending plans worth $71.5-BILLION" ). Don't vote that man anywhere near the cookie jar.

Every politician has to make promises on the hustings. I hate that this seems to be what Canadians want, the continual talk of what we're going to get -- promises of spending instead of fiscal prudence.

Stephen Harper promised $2-Billion for repairing highways and border crossings. Yes, these are necessary, and I suppose I should feel happy about it, but I would prefer every politician be able to say: After we see what money is available, we will make the best use of your tax dollars for the most worthy purposes for the whole of Canada. Regional concerns will not be paramount in the decision, just concerns about Canadians' most important needs, as we see them, once elected. If you don't like the result, vote us out.

I know, Canada is fortunate I'll never be a politician and an elected MP. My riding would lose out on too much, I suppose, while I considered the whole country ... and then, probably choose badly out of ignorance and thinking too much. Such is the reality ... So I blog. :)

To every politician who has to go through what I see as a dreadful, soul-destroying process, just to get a job as MP, blessings upon you decent ones of whatever political stripe. I include the best of the Liberal and NDP candidates along with my choice of party, the Conservatives. Please defeat the corrupt ones.

Business & Agribusiness: Fujian & Canada, ACOA / AIF Grants & Academics

Bumped up: There are new posts below.

Never let it be said that Maritimers are not au courant with the latest business ideas and globalization.

China's B-schools boom -- several articles

Teaching the Business of Agribusiness -- The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences EMBA program is the only accredited program in China directed at the huge food industry Dec. 6, 05

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) Executive MBA program in food and agribusiness -- offered in conjunction with the University of Iowa's Henry B. Tippie School of Management and with Purdue University -- grew out of consulting work that the Franklin Institute of Management (FIM) did with food companies in China. [. . . . ]

Isn't WalMart moving into food vending in a big way?

Maritimes won't be left behind

This is a business partnership with several components: a joint degree program, teaching English to Chinese high school students who come to Canada and doubtless will never leave, Canadian students and teachers travelling to China learning Mandarin (check), instructors of TESL/ESL, an agricultural component, Fujian China academics--a group handling UNBSJ's China Beijing Concord Project--think women's issues, gender equity, mushroom cultivation, language studies encompassing NBCC (community college in the port city of St. John and others), maybe eventually the development of e-commerce and much more is planned ... much optimism ... potential ... plans ... and a have-not province.

This provides another and a different perspective on Fujian Province, China, if what you remember is only that Fujian Province is source of the illegal alien boat people who landed in Canada on 5 or 6 rusty boats. Ex-Min. Elinor Caplan (Immigration) actually travelled to Fujian province to speak with the governor or some other high-level official about ending this illegal trafficking in aliens entering Canada. I seem to remember it being reported, subsequently, that actually, that official was involved in the human smuggling himself. Anyway, the Fujianese landed on the BC mainland across from the Queen Charlotte Islands--or was it on the Queen Charlottes--approximately 1998. Now, Fujianese may come to Canada legally ... through language studies, et cetera ... and more partnerships are planned.

Business ... hitting the right buttons

[ FAFU = Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, China ]

A five-year, CIDA-funded project initiated in October 1998, the project will develop FAFU's capacity to teach, research, train and provide leadership within the Chinese agricultural sector.

The project will focus on developing five areas: socioeconomics; bio-remediation; environment and sustainable development; agricultural business practices and women in agriculture.

Caveat: A strange result sometimes--if you copy a page to read later, the mouse jumps to the block with the FAFU faculty:
Project Coordinator/Leader: Dr. Minsheng You
Project Resource People: Professor Dan Li, Professor Wengi Zhang, Dr. Shaojun and Professor Dongming Pan

Perhaps the Chinese contingent programmed the site so that the bulleting would remain in place ... or something like that.

More on the project:

Build FAFU capacity to teach, research and train in:

protection of agricultural environments, including water and soil conservation, agricultural business practices of Asian market development and promotion of international trade.

Establish a Centre for Studies of Women in Agriculture at FAFU.

There is a large volunteer component to this project -- people who work without pay to ensure "the success of the project objectives" -- people from UNBSJ, New Brunswick Community College and the Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, China. More information about them is on the website, along with more information on the project.

[. . . . So far, only "three of the five project areas." are under way.] Preliminary gender assessment survey was conducted and baseline data on gender distribution of faculty and staff were collected.

FAFU faculty and students have been introduced to new socio-economic terms, the concept of gender and gender-related issues, Canadian agricultural organization and services, and contemporary developments in international business.

ESL and reference libraries have been established and supporting equipment has been put in place. [ by? Where has the money come from? ]

[. . . . ] Ten FAFU faculty will train at UNBSJ, each focusing on a separate project area.

Develop FAFU-delivered outreach training programmes
for government officials, agricultural technicians, farmers, and members of the community.

FAFU faculty mebers [sic -- members] with expertise in production of exotic mushrooms will deliver workshops to a small group of New Brunswickers.

Soon--think a WalMart of food in your future--will be importing exotic mushrooms ... whatever.
